BRCGS is a market-leading global brand that helps build confidence in the supply chain. The company was founded in 1996 by retailers who wanted to harmonize food safety standards throughout the supply chain. Today BRCGS has a set of Global Standards that establish requirements applicable to the manufacture of food and consumer products, packaging materials used to protect the products, storage, distribution and distribution of food and beverages, as well as the ...
Among these standards, the BRCGS Food Safety Global Standard is particularly noteworthy. This standard is widely recognized by large retail chains, especially those in the United Kingdom.
IFS (International Featured Standards) was founded in 2003 under the name International Food Standard. IFS standards are uniform standards for food, products and services. They ensure that companies certified according to IFS standards manufacture a safe product or provide a safe service in accordance with legal requirements and customer specifications.
IFS Progress Food is a standardized food safety program for both retailers and the food industry, based on the GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative) competitive framework. With the IFS Progress Food program, a tool has been created for small or less developed companies in food safety procedures to establish a management system and implement the IFS standards step by step within a defined period of time.
IFS Logistics is a standard for auditing companies involved in logistics for food and non-food products, such as transport, warehousing, distribution, loading and unloading, etc. It applies to all types of activity: delivery by road, rail, ship; refrigerated/frozen or ambient temperature stable products. This standard does not apply to food or non-food processing activities, nor to the import and marketing of products (brokers' activities).
The IFS Progress Logistics Programs are standardized food safety and product quality development and assessment programs for the corresponding scopes of application such as IFS Food, IFS Logistics, IFS HPC and IFS PACsecure. The purpose of the programs is to support "small and/or less developed" businesses in the gradual development of their product safety and quality management processes within a defined period of time. The phased approach of IFS Progress Logistics will facilitate the implementation of the relevant IFS Standards, etc.
AUDITED SYSTEM OF SPECIFIC SELF-CHECKS (SAE) FOR THE EXPORT OF FOOD FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION
Royal Decree 993/2014, of November 28, establishing the procedure and requirements for official veterinary certification for export, establishes that companies interested in exporting food of animal origin or containing products of animal origin to third countries that demand additional requirements to those applicable for exchanges within the European Union, must implement a system of specific self-monitoring (SAE) that guarantees compliance with these additional requirements.
Lhe accreditation by operators of compliance with the traceability and animal health requirements demanded by the importing country and which are not equivalent to those of the European regulations must be done through the presentation of a certificate issued by an independent control body (ICO) authorized by the Directorate General for Agri-Food Production Health and Animal Welfare, once it has audited the audited self-monitoring system (SAE) implemented by the establishment and verified that it complies with the requirements of the Royal Decree.
The SEM must ensure that there is evidence that, for each consignment shipped to such third countries, all relevant data have been collected and analyzed prior to shipment and issuance of the veterinary export certificate to ensure proper traceability of the products to be exported and compliance with the requirements established in the veterinary export certificate.
The HACCP system, which is scientifically based and systematic, identifies specific hazards and establishes measures for their control to ensure food safety. This system focuses on prevention rather than on end-product testing. Any HACCP system is susceptible to changes that may result from advances in equipment design, processing procedures or the technological sector.
HACCP can be applied throughout the food chain, from the primary producer to the final consumer, and its application should be based on scientific evidence of hazards to human health. In addition to improving food safety, the application of HACCP can offer other significant benefits, such as facilitating inspection by regulatory authorities and promoting international trade by increasing confidence in food safety.
The barred herringbone is the international symbol for gluten-free products and is currently regulated by the AOECS (Society of European Coeliac Associations), which delegates to its member associations the granting of its use and control.
In Spain, FACE is one of those in charge of granting this certification. Therefore, those industries interested in using this symbol on their products must apply for certification under the "European Licensing System" (ELS).
It is an internationally recognized symbol for all those who must follow a gluten-free diet, providing great confidence to the celiac community and being a quick reference when faced with the purchase of gluten-free products. It also provides a commercial advantage to manufacturers in this growing and increasingly competitive market.
The purpose of a COSTCO audit is to gather all current and accurate information regarding the overall Food Safety status of existing and potential vendors and suppliers. This information will be shared ONLY with the appropriate members of COSTCO Wholesale, called the Food Safety & Technology Group and Purchasing Staff.
The Costco Audit Group will use this audit to determine what areas, if any, need improvement to meet COSTCO's Food Safety or Animal Welfare criteria. Purchasing staff will use this information as an aid in making safe and intelligent purchases for COSTCO members. The outcome of this audit will in no way be used as a punitive measure; rather, this audit provides both the vendor/supplier and COSTCO Wholesale the opportunity for continuous enrichment and improvement.
