Spain's situation in terms of business R&D&I

Where does Spain stand in terms of business R&D&I?

In an increasingly globalized, competitive and technological world, investment in R&D&I has become a determining factor in increasing productivity, opening new horizons in the market and guaranteeing business success. Despite this, in 2023 Spain allocated 1.41% of GDP to R&D&I, according to Eurostat, a figure that is still below the European average of 2.2%. Total R&D expenditure in Spain reached 15 billion euros, of which 55% came from the business sector, a figure that is also below the European Union average, where the private sector usually contributes around 65% of total R&D expenditure.
