The GLOBALG.A.P. Integrated Farm Assurance Standard was updated from IFA version 5.3-GFS to IFA 5.4-GFS on 15 July 2020 in order to make the necessary changes to obtain Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) recognition. From 22 January 2022 audits requiring GFSI approval must be assessed under version 5.4. making the previous versions 5.2 and 5.3 obsolete.

The new version of IFA is intended for producers supplying products to customers who require compliance with a GFSI-recognised standard and is only applicable in the field of aquaculture, fruit and vegetables.

The IFA standard for fruit and vegetables is active worldwide and covers all stages of production, from pre-harvest practices (such as plant protection product application and soil management) to post-harvest handling and packing.

From 17th January 2022 ACERTA is authorised and accredited by ENAC to certify with this new version of the IFA 5.4-GFS standard.
