New Version 9 of the Global Standard for Food Safety


Version 9 of the BRCGS Global Food Safety Standard has been published (last August 1, 2022), applicable from February 1, 2023.

This edition has focused on:

  • Promoting the understanding and deeper development of product safety culture
  • Ensure international applicability, compatibility with the general principles of Codex and compare it with GFSI requirements
  • Expand audit options to include the use of information and telecommunications technology (ICT): announced audit, unannounced audit and mixed announced audit (50%onsite, 50%online)
  • Update requirements associated with core product security activities, such as internal audits, root cause analysis, preventive actions, and incident management
  • Provide greater clarity for establishments that perform primary conversion of animals and manufacture animal feed.
