From September 21 to 24, the International Fair for Animal Production (FIGAN) took place in Zaragoza, with the participation of 827 exhibitors from 27 countries.

The 15th edition of the Fair focused especially on technology and innovation, with a large showcase of machinery, equipment and solutions offering the most cutting-edge technological innovations for food, animal welfare and health.

Another major attraction was the presence of live animals, a hallmark of this fair, which this year hosted 750 head of livestock from the main breeds of sheep, cattle and goats.

The first conference presentation was made by Matías Romero, director of ACERTA, who presented the guarantee mark WOW (Welfare On Wheels), developed by ANTA with the collaboration of ACERTA’s animal welfare department. The WOW certification gives recognition to logistics companies transporting live animals that are certified, as meeting higher standards than those of the current EC Regulation 1/2005. It completes the certification chain in the livestock sector, as it is the only national brand that fully certifies the transport of live animals.

At the same event, Isabel Pinto, president of ANTA, and Laura Godoy, head of ACERTA’s animal welfare department, presented the award of the first certificate of the WOW (Welfare On Wheels) guarantee mark to Jaume Gabarrella, head of the company TRANSPORTS JAUME GABARRELLA BERGÉ, a transport company specialising in the transport of cattle.
